We have a funky house, with unique rooms and spaces. The funkiness is what appealed to us but it does complicate things when trying to maximize the space to fulfill all of our needs. Two of the three bedrooms need to function as both a guest space and also office space, as we often work from home, but love to entertain. And both of those rooms are very uniquely shaped, long and narrow, angled walls, sloped ceilings, multiple levels, I told you it was funky!
In order to add a sleeping space to the loft side of our house, I needed to find a sleeper sofa that would be comfortable, durable, stylish, at least a queen, and a very specific size. After much research I decided on the MCM Sofa Bed by BenchMade Modern. It ticked all the boxes except for the price, which was very $$$$.
It was really scary ordering something that expensive without ever seeing or testing it out in person. So if you’re out there doing research on this sofa, hopefully this helps.

We placed the order in October of 2023, and received the sofa December 15th. It fit like a glove on the top level of the loft space. It was definitely challenging to get up there, but it fits perfectly. And yes, I’m just now finally doing a review for you.
The sofa looks beautiful in our space and has held up great over the two plus years since we’ve owned it. It doesn’t get a ton of use as an everyday sofa, but it does get a lot of use as a bed in the guest space. The bed is pretty firm and not super comfortable on it’s own. I purchased a queen beauty rest topper from Costco, and that adds a nice pillow top layer. It’s a little annoying to have to store a separate topper for it, but the bed is really sturdy, and you don’t feel a bar in your back or sagging like a lot of sleeper sofas. It’s a quality piece that I imagine will last a long time.
When in sofa form, the couch is comfortable and the pillows don’t need to be fluffed or adjusted like the other BenchMade Modern sofa we purchased (review coming on that TBD.)
Overall I would definitely recommend this sofa if you can stomach the price, and I’d buy it again.
